Dental Implants
The Permanent Option for Replacement Teeth
Implants vs. Dentures & Bridges
Some patients choose to replace missing teeth with dentures, which are removable. Denture-wearers must deal with irritation from the denture rubbing the gum, ensuring the denture is secure at all times, and removing it for cleaning. Bridges are replacement teeth attached to the teeth on each side of the space. Those adjacent teeth must be filed to accommodate the attachment. Neither option provides the permanent, full-function, natural appearance that implants do.
One Step Smile
Generally, dental implants require two to three separate procedures. The first involves the placement of a titanium post in the jaw. This post serves as the foundation for the artificial tooth, or crown. During several weeks of healing, it may be covered with a temporary crown. A second procedure is required to place an abutment, or connector, to the implant. When the gum is healed around the abutment, the permanent artificial tooth is attached.
At Horizon One Dental, we offer One Step Smile, an implant option that takes only one visit to complete. With our innovative techniques and state-of-the-art technology, we are able to insert the implant post and abutment and connect a crown all at once. You can have a fully functioning, natural-looking tooth in just one visit!
